He has a lifelong interest in medical education and the role of the health professionals in public awareness. He became Scheme Director of one of theĀ largest programmes preparing newly qualified doctors for a career in primary care, and his belief that the skills needed in doctor patient
communications are equally important in wider settings lead him into the media, where he has supplied content, information and people to journalism, radio and television. He sees general practice as an ideal place for advancing medical research and has travelled widely in the UK and worldwide with the results of his own studies into several common, but often poorly understood conditions.
